Dynamical Comparison of Different Polymer Architectures—Bottlebrush vs Linear Polymer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Different polymer architectures behave differently regarding their dynamics. We have used a combination of dielectric spectroscopy, and fast field cycling nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to compare the dynamical behavior two different architectures, with similar overall molecular weight. The systems interest are bottlebrush linear one, both based on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS). To verify structure PDMS-g-PDMS in melt, small-angle neutron scattering was used, yielding spherical shape. Information about segmental dynamics revealed by spectroscopy extended higher temperatures NMR. One advantage NMR is detection large-scale chain dynamics, which cannot probe for PDMS. While relaxation seems be independent architecture, show substantial differences, as represented mean square displacement. Here, regions detected each polymer. shows Rouse regime, followed reptation. In contrast, performs diffusion available time window, entanglement effects completely missing.

Dynamical heterogeneity in periodically deformed polymer glasses.
The dynamics of structural relaxation in a model polymer glass subject to spatially homogeneous, time-periodic shear deformation is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. We study a coarse-grained bead-spring model of short polymer chains below the glass transition temperature. It is found that at small strain amplitudes, the segmental dynamics is nearly reversible over about 10^{4}...

Polymer concrete (PC) is a composite material prepared by resin and aggregates. Advantages of polymer concretes include rapid curing at ambient temperatures, high flexural and compressive strengths, excellent chemical resistance and low permeability. In this research, a comparative study was performed on degradation of polyester resin concrete in different chemical solutions. Polymer concrete s...

This report presents a kinetic model for endwise depolymerization of linear, self-assembling protein systems. We develop a reliable method for predicting the shape of depolymerization curves (remaining polymer weight versus time) on the basis of the initial polymer length distribution. Computer simulations are used to illustrate changes in the polymer length distribution and average polymer wei...

Infrared-visible sum frequency generation spectroscopy (SFG) has been used to study the interface between poly(vinyl-N-octadecylcarbamate-co-vinyl acetate) (Comb) and deuterated or hydrogenated polystyrene (dPS or hPS) films. Strong methyl symmetric and Fermi resonance bands associated with the alkyl side chains of the Comb polymer are observed in the SFG spectra. In addition, for Comb/hPS spec...

Abstracf The successful development of multicomponent polymer systems generally requires careful control of polymer-polymer interactions since this is important for achieving useful mechanical properties, optically clear mixtures (miscibility), coupling of impact modifiers to a bnttle matrix, compatibilization of immiscible polymers, etc. Random copolymers offer a powerful tool for achieving th...
